Do I donate to charities? Yes sometimes, but it depends on a variety of factors. 

These are the types of requests I am most likely to support:

• Those from charities with whom I have prior links.

• Requests from charities that are related to art, especially art education or those that support artists

• Art postcard auctions

• Requests for talks, demonstrations or workshops

Do I donate art to charities when I receive an unsolicited request, and have no connection with that charity? Very, very rarely.

These are the types of requests I am unlikely to support:

• Requests for donations of artwork, unless it's a charity very close to my heart

• Charities whose work is unrelated to art/ women's rights/ basic human needs (food, shelter etc)

• Charities who support only a specific UK area with which I have no connection

Even if your charity fulfills all the first criteria, I may still say no. This will simply be because I've already allocated my charitable allowances for that month or year. In which case I may perhaps support you at a future date.

I'm sorry to sound harsh, but I get a lot of requests, and I simply can't donate to them all. 

 

​I appreciate the great work that charities perform, so I'm sorry for refusals, but I hope you will appreciate my position. You are still welcome to ask, but please don't be offended if your request is one of those that doesn't receive a positive response.
