What inspired me?
Patterns in Ribbon Jasper (also known as Spiderweb Jasper).
Ribbon Jasper, also called Spiderweb jasper, has multiple pattern options. There may be parallel stripes arranged neatly over the surface, curly lines that meander flamboyantly, criss-crossed lines like
a child’s scribble, or any combination of those.
Colours vary according to the individual piece, but are usually red and green, or monochrome.
The painting suggests the variety of lines, but plays on the name, with the idea of a ribbon curving and twisting through the panels. The aim was to create a balance of bold lines and heavy texture against plain, or lightly textured, areas.

Design continues over the sides of the painting.
Panels are 2cm deep
