What inspired this painting?
A rusted surface of peeling paint and colourful textures.
I love the effect of weather on objects. The way a pristine surface changes and evolves over time. Colours deepen or fade; smooth surfaces roughen; shiny surfaces become dull or pitted.
This image stems from imagination: perhaps painted, studded metal. I enjoyed utilising acrylic effects - impasto, metallics, dripping acrylic ink - to give the impression of rusting metal and peeling paint.
