What inspired this painting?
A piece of Pietersite
Pietersite may have a very linear pattern or a random swirled pattern. Of elements of both. On this occasion I wanted to explore the linear qualities. The intense colours and mark-making combine to suggest a sunset cityscape. An unintentional, though not displeasing, effect.
Pietersite was discovered in 1962 in Namibia, which remains its only known location.

Size: 60 x 60 cm (24 x 24 inches)
Design continues over the sides of the painting.
Panel is 2cm deep.
